How a made-to-measure stone order works
Most jobs follow the same five stages. Simple pieces go through them quickly. Complex ones need more checking before anything is cut.
The five stages
Send your sizes
Use the quote builder to list each piece, or send a sketch, drawing or photos. Rough sizes are fine for a first price.
We check the details
We look at how each piece fits and is fixed, and ask about anything that isn't clear. For profiles, cut-outs or awkward shapes, we send a drawing back for you to check.
You get a quote
The quote lists every piece with its stone, sizes, finishes and price. Nothing is cut until you've approved it.
Templating, if it's needed
Curved, irregular or fitted pieces like worktops are cut from a template of the real space, not from tape measurements.
Cutting and finishing
Each piece is cut to the approved sizes, then profiled and finished.
How to measure
Measure in millimetres: length, width from front to back, and thickness. For a sill, measure the opening, then add how far each end builds into the wall.
If you're replacing an old piece, measure it as well as the space it sits in. Rough sizes and a photo are enough to start.
Common questions
Do I need a proper drawing?
No. Sizes on a sketch or a phone photo with measurements written on are enough to start. If the piece needs a drawing, we'll make one and send it to you to check.
Can you match stone that's already there?
Usually, yes. Send photos in daylight and, if possible, a small piece of the existing stone. We'll tell you how close a match we can get before you order.
What affects the price?
The stone, the size and thickness of each piece, the finishes, edge profiles and cut-outs, and how many pieces there are. Your quote breaks these down.
How long does it take?
It depends on the stone and the work involved, so each quote gives its own timescale. Tell us if you have a date to hit.
